As a Corporate Executive, Fashion Model and Philanthropist, Karlyn Percil has been a trailblazer and continues to exemplify how to balance corporate success and community responsibility.
A native of St. Lucia, Karlyn migrated to Toronto in 2003 and has worked with Scotiabank for the past 11 years, amassing a considerable body of experience in both the Caribbean and North American markets. At Scotiabank, she has made real contributions to the business and has also leveraged her corporate role to improve the broader community.
Currently she oversees the operations and business needs for 21 Countries/Collection Units within the Caribbean and Latin American markets. She is also the newly elected President of the Scotia Caribbean Professional Network – An employment resource group helping to engage and empower Scotia employees. Karlyn has been a key member of the National Workforce Committee whose strategic mandate was to develop leaders outside of Scotiabank. She was also a key facilitator of another strategic leadership initiative called the Scotiabank Leadership Route Map which delivered guidance and coaching to Scotiabank employees within International Banking operations.
In the Community, she believes in the power of voluntary service to others and continues to give back to her community at every level. She has organized various educational fundraising events for the Aids Action Foundation as well as events for the Children’s Orphanage in her native home of St. Lucia. In Toronto, she has worked with Impact Solutions on the Bell Celebrity Gala and The Niagara Wine Auction for the Sick Kids Foundation. She has volunteered with the Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA) for over 5 years and has been the Chair for the BBPA Harry Jerome Awards for the past 3 years. As Chair, she has been focused on preserving Mr. Jerome’s legacy, preserving the organization’s Brand and increasing Youth participation.
Aside from her non-profit work, she is also an Entrepreneur with her own Clothing Line and global message entitled “Bellemoun”, which celebrates culture and diversity. Her “Beauty in Diversity” Campaign aims to raise awareness that we are all beautiful in our differences and hopes to change negative perspectives on race, culture, beauty and acceptance, one picture at a time. Karlyn donates part proceeds from Bellemoun to her non-profit -The Bellemoun Community Youth Network (BCYN). The BCYN provides visibility, programs and structured assistance for small youth driven non-profits & individuals here in Canada and the Caribbean.
